We all know that online platforms are constantly changing and improving the creator experience. YouTube is no exception! In today’s Tech News Tuesday episode, we’re talking about some recent updates in the world of YouTube, and why they might matter to you.
Showcase Your Videos in YouTube Studio
YouTube Studio now lets you showcase the top clips of your videos right on your channel’s Home tab. This feature allows you to create looping clips of 5-60 seconds that can be shared to social media, embed on your website, or even email someone a link. Your community can create clips too which are also featured on the home tab (although you can turn off this feature if you choose). This is a great way to highlight your best moments and keep your audience engaged.
It’s Time to Check Your YouTube Links
And speaking of the Home tab, links on the channel Home tab are now displayed prominently on the Channel profile header near the “Subscribe” button. You are no longer able to display links in the banner. Have you checked your links lately?
It’s a good time to update and add links there, since YouTube is in the process of disabling links in Shorts descriptions and comments. The good news is you can link a short directly to a longer video on your channel and we do recommend doing that.
Shorts are Easier than Ever on the YouTube Studio App
The YouTube Studio app on iOS is making it each to create a Short from one of your channel videos and choosing the layout for it. They are making it easy to get a clip turned into a Short and to choose a layout like square, split screen or zoomed.

Some More New Features to Keep in Mind
There’s also a new experimental feature called Dream Track. It allows creators to create a unique 30-second soundtrack with the voices of participating artists. It’s a collaboration between Google DeepMind, YouTube, and some amazing music industry partners, but since it’s experimental, it is only available to a select few in the United States for now.
Another recent feature is the ability to pause comments. You can stop new comments from coming in while still keeping the existing ones visible. Good to know if for some reason, the conversation wanders off in a bad direction. Trolls unfortunately are a fact of the internet.
Pause comments and control the trolls.
How are you doing on your video creation plans this year? We can’t emphasize enough how your audience is spending more time watching videos, and for many it is their preferred method of getting information.
