Today’s Tech News Tuesday episode is for you if you use Instagram direct messages. Instagram has rolled out changes designed to make messaging more efficient, organized, and fun — whether you’re managing a business or just chatting with friends.
Schedule Direct Messages on Instagram
One of the big changes is that you can now schedule direct messages on Instagram. You can pre-write your message and set it to send up to 29 days later. This is especially useful for your business if you want to send reminders or follow-ups but don’t want to have to remember to do it manually.
This is a game-changer for managing communications across timezones.
This is also a game-changer for managing communication across time zones. So if you have customers or team members in different parts of the world, you can schedule messages to send at the right time for them, even if it’s outside of your regular working hours.
New DM Features in Instagram
Another feature they’ve added is the ability to pin direct messages to the top of your chat. You can pin up to three messages, so important conversations you don’t want to lose track of stay right at the top where you can find them easily.
There are even more updates coming for direct messages. Instagram will let you invite friends to a group chat with a QR code, which makes adding people to a chat way more convenient. They’re also rolling out message translations with support for 99 languages. No more worrying about language barriers when chatting with people around the world. The translation shows up inline as if it was originally sent that way.
Instagram is also introducing music sharing within DMs. Now, you can share music directly in the app and listen to the same song at the same time, or share it asynchronously. So if you’re talking to a friend about a song you both love, you can just send it without having to leave the chat.
This is also rolling out to broadcast channels, which are those public direct message inboxes that are used to send one-way messages to your followers. So now, you can share music with their followers, too, in a more interactive way.
If you’re using DMs to manage customer relationships, set reminders, or just keep things organized, these updates are going to save you time and make things a lot more efficient.
So, if you’re not talking with your customers and prospects via direct messages, now’s a good time to start experimenting with this communication channel.
