In today’s Tech News Tuesday episode, we’re talking about some of the latest features in Instagram. Instagram has rolled out a couple of updates that are going to change the way you create and share content on the platform.
Add Text to Images in the Instagram App
First up, let’s talk about something Instagram photos have always needed — words! You can now add text directly to your photos right from the Instagram editor. Previously, if you wanted to add text to your images, you had to use a third-party app, then upload your edited photo to Instagram. Now, you can do it all in one place. A bit of text can really help your post stand out, especially when you want to highlight specific information that might get overlooked in the caption.
Highlight specific information and make your post stand out.
From the post editor, you can easily add text to your photos. But that’s not all—you can also layer another photo on top as a sticker. And here’s the fun part: you can change the shape of that sticker photo into a square, circle, heart, or even a star. This opens up a lot of creative possibilities for making your posts more engaging.
It’s a great way to make your content pop, especially with the new fonts, effects, and animations available for text in Reels and Stories. You can really tailor the look and feel of your posts to match your brand or the message you’re trying to convey.
Updates to Carousels
Instagram is now allowing up to 20 slides in a carousel post. That’s double the previous limit of 10 photos or videos. So, if you’ve ever felt limited by the number of images or videos you could share in one post, this update is for you.
Instagram is doubling the space for storytelling using Carousels.
This is a fantastic update, especially for those who use carousels to tell a story, showcase a series of products, or even just share a “photo dump” from an event. And with the ability to pair songs with your slides, you can create a more immersive experience for your audience.
What does all this mean for your business?
With these new tools, you have even more ways to engage your audience. Use the text feature to highlight key points, add stickers for a fun twist, and take advantage of the extended carousel to do more storytelling through images. The key is to stay creative and think about how these features can help you connect more deeply with your audience and how you might streamline your workflow.
Remember, while these tools can enhance your posts, it’s still important to keep your message focused, authentic and aligned with your brand. Don’t just add features for the sake of it — make sure they serve a purpose and add value to your message.
