Bob: Hi, I’m Bob Clark.
Donna: And I’m Donna Botti. We’re with Delos Inc and we make the web work for you. In today’s Tech News Tuesday episode we’re talking about a new report by Cheetah Digital and Econsultancy that shows consumers would rather get email offers from brands they trust rather than background tracking and personalized ads chasing them around the web.
Bob: That’s right Donna, it’s a little creepy how products I have looked at seem to stalk me while I’m Web browsing.
Donna: It’s true we’ve all had that experience. The consumers who were part of this study say that brands should just ask for an email address in exchange for clear value such as a deal, a discount, or an informational piece.
Bob: That’s true, because nearly half of consumers report purchasing a product as a result of an email. The report says this suggests that email could be up to 92% more effective at promoting sales than banner ads, social ads, and organic content.
Two-thirds of consumers say they will wait longer or pay more to purchase from a brand they trust. And seventy-nine percent suggest brands spend more on customer loyalty, rather than on social media marketing.
Donna: Your digital marketing should be all about building relationships with your customers, and existing customers are as important if not more important than trying to find new ones.
The report also notes that “consumers’ digital expectations have risen exponentially” in the wake of the pandemic. So the message couldn’t be any clearer. Consumers still prefer email for communications from businesses. You know we always talk about not building on rented land, and your email list is more valuable than ever, so how are growing and nurturing your list?
