Welcome to the Get Digital Marketing Results podcast where we give you information and actionable tips to grow your organization.
Bob: Hi, I’m Bob Clark.
Donna: And I’m Donna Botti. We’re with Delos Inc and we make the web work for you.
In today’s Tech News Tuesday episode we’re talking about getting the right alignment between your ideal client, your product or service, and your message. This is key to your marketing efforts. One way to think about this is called your value proposition or your unique selling proposition. It quickly tells people what to expect when doing business with you.
Bob: That’s right Donna. Your value proposition is your way of telling people who you are and why you’re different. It is the bridge between what your customers want and what you excel at doing.
Donna: So how do you figure out what yours is? Well you start with defining your target audience and what problems they have. Next you’ll want to get clear on what makes you different, what your competition is doing, and why people choose to buy from you. Then make sure that you’re using your voice – it has to be something you would be comfortable saying to someone when introducing yourself.
Bob: Wow, that sounds like a lot, and it may take some time to create one, but know it’s one of the core elements to successful digital marketing. If you are following our Digital Marketing Framework, you already know that this is one of the first steps you should take in order to get results.
Donna: Exactly, your value proposition helps you become recognized by the right audience. Here’s a couple of examples. FedEx, “When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight.” And how about M&Ms, “The milk chocolate melts in your mouth, not in your hand.”
Bob: I love M&Ms, but you forgot one Donna. Delos Inc, “We make the web work for you.”
Donna: That’s a good one Bob. We think your web presence should work for you, not the other way around. Getting clear on your value proposition is a key foundation that will make the rest of your digital marketing easier and more effective.
Bob: That’s it for today’s episode. You can find links to a couple helpful articles on this topic and a transcript of today’s podcast, at DelosInc.com/181.
