Donna: And I’m Donna Botti. We’re with Delos Inc and we make the web work for you. In today’s Tech News Tuesday episode, we’re going to be talking about keywords.
Bob: So Donna, you’re talking about SEO and that’s a very tough thing for people to handle.
Donna: Right. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, and today we’re going to be talking about a guide from MOZ that is specifically about keyword research. Now keywords are part of SEO, and keywords are the terms that people use to find you. But, it’s much more important than that when you’re creating your marketing strategy.
Keywords are important for really more than search engine optimization because it’s really important that your messages resonate with your customers. If your product or service solves someone’s problem, it’s going to be important that you use the words that your customers use when trying to find these solutions.
Bob: When people are on the web and they type in things, they’re typing in full questions and things like that, or answers that they need, and by having the correct keywords on your website, they’re going to be able to find you, and you’re going to be able to solve their problems.
Donna: Right, and we ask people about what kind of keywords do you use. It’s really something that you need to think about. And so this is a difficult process for people. And so when we asked what keywords do you want to rank for, it’s often times it’s difficult for them to figure out what is the right terms.
And so that’s why this guide to understanding and finding keywords is a good resource for you, because you need to look at what you think you want to rank for, but what Google thinks you rank for, and also what are your competitors ranked for, and so this guide kinda outlines a whole process and gives you some tools and resources for finding keywords and prioritizing which ones might be the best ones for you to target given what your product or service is.
Bob: So after you read the guide, there is a keyword research cheat sheet that you can download and print out, and that’ll be a good reference for you. That’s it for today’s episode.
