Bob: Hi, I’m Bob Clark.
Donna: And I’m Donna Botti. We’re with Delos Inc and we make the web work for you. In today’s Tech News Tuesday episode, we’re looking at an announcement from Facebook about Facebook Shops.
Bob: Facebook Shops Donna? What? I thought they already had a store.
Donna: They do. But this is an upgrade to Facebook Shops that’s going to allow businesses to set up a single online store, where customers can access on both Facebook and Instagram.
Bob: So you’re saying I need to set up a new Instagram account and a new Facebook account?
Donna: No, your existing store will automatically be converted over, but the point being is you just have to do one shop. And just like when you’re in a physical store and need to ask someone for help, in Facebook Shops you’ll be able to message a business through WhatsApp, Messenger, or Instagram Direct to ask questions and get support and even track your orders.
Bob: So another feature is that when you’re doing a live video, people will be able to shop your products right on the live video.
Donna: That’s right, and it’s actually both from Facebook and on Instagram. And if you are using a platform like Shopify or BigCommerce or WooCommerce, Facebook is working with them to integrate your store automatically into the Facebook Shop, because you still want to make sure that you have your own website and your own store and not depend 100% only on Facebook Shop.
But again, if you’re using one of those platforms you’ll be able to import your products automaticall and then think about, like this live video thing, it’s almost like you can have your own QVC channel going on to have people purchase as you do live.
Bob: That’s it for today’s episode. You can find a link to the Facebook article and a transcript of today’s podcast at DelosInc.com/137. And don’t forget to subscribe so you don’t miss out on our actionable digital marketing tips to grow your organization.
