In today’s Tech News Tuesday we’re talking about some trends for 2022 in digital marketing.
Bob: That’s right Donna. We’re looking at a HubSpot report on what worked well for B2C marketers this year and where they plan to invest in 2022.
Donna: Short-form video took off in early 2020 and shows no signs of slowing down. Today, TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts are also competing for users’ attention. Facebook has even started showing Reels in its news feed as well. The trend that marketers plan to invest in the most in 2022 is video. Roughly a third of the B2C marketers surveyed already invest in short-form content, while another third of those who haven’t will do so for the first time in 2022.
Bob: Video is the leader when it comes to content marketing. However, audio is slowly creeping up into the mix. The trends suggest that more marketers will add audio content to their marketing efforts in the new year.
Donna: Social responsibility is another trend to watch. Consumers want and expect brands to be more transparent and to take a stand on social media. It can lead to greater trust which is a leading factor in purchasing decisions.
Bob: Not new but gaining renewed importance in 2022 is inbound marketing. Inbound marketing attracts customers by offering valuable content and experiences tailored to them. It’s all about meeting consumers where they are, what their problems and pain points are, and how you can solve them.
