Bob: Hi, I’m Bob Clark.
Donna: And I’m Donna Botti. We’re with Delos Inc and we make the web work for you. In today’s Tech News Tuesday episode, we’re talking about how to set up Instagram shopping. Instagram is now letting a wider range of accounts sell products directly from the social media site.
Bob: That’s right Donna. And with Instagram Shopping you can add shopping tags and stickers to your posts and stories that take viewers right to that product on your website.
Donna: As more purchases move online, social shopping is definitely becoming a thing. If you have products to sell, let’s talk about how you set it up.
Bob: First, make sure you’re eligible. Your business has to have its own website domain with the products you are selling. All shoppable posts have to point to products on this domain. You’ll also have to make sure you are using a Business Instagram profile, not a personal one.
Donna: If you’re eligible, you’ll need to also connect your Instagram account to a business Facebook page. You’ll add your products to the Facebook Product catalog. There’s two ways to do this, you can manually add products in Business Manager, but if you use a supported ecommerce platform like Shopify or BigCommerce, you can connect to that to automatically add your products.
Bob: When your products are loaded you’ll have to submit your account for review. Account reviews typically take a few days. When you receive the approval, you’ll be able to turn on shopping in your Instagram profile.
Donna: Once this is set up, you can now make your posts and stories shoppable by adding tags to specific products in a post, or a shopping sticker in your Instagram story.
Bob: That’s it for today’s episode. You can find the link to the Instagram article with step-by-step instructions for setting up shopping, and a transcript of today’s podcast at DelosInc.com/145.
