Facebook Changes the Rules
Facebook encouraged businesses to get Likes as a way to reach and engage customers and prospects. Fans would see your updates right in their news feed. Many people do not realize that you do not see posts from all your friends and the pages you like. Facebook determines what information each user sees in their news feed.
In January, Facebook changed the amount of free promotional posts that are displayed in the news feed. If you want to reach more of your fans on Facebook, you will need to pay to promote your post.

What can you do?
For some businesses, it may make sense to pay to promote, but you should also consider putting more of your marketing effort into your website which you own, and your email list where you can reach people directly.
Mobile is a Search Ranking Factor
Google now considers site performance and appearance on mobile devices a ranking factor. In order to be found in search engines, you should have a mobile-friendly website. Statistics have shown that when users visit a site that is not mobile-friendly, they tend to immediately leave and return to search results. Now when you search on mobile, Google applies a Mobile-Friendly label next to websites so you know what to expect before clicking.
How does your site measure up? Take the Mobile Friendly Test on the Google Developer site.
What can you do?
If your site is not mobile-friendly, now is the time to convert to a mobile-responsive design. With a mobile-responsive website, there is one website to maintain, but it automatically responds to fit the screen size of whatever device is being used.

How Hashtags Work
Have you ever wondered what hashtags are all about? #Oscars2015, #tbt, #cute, #smallbiz and countless others. Are they useful for your business?
A hashtag is a keyword or phrase preceded by the hash symbol (#) in a social media post. It makes the content of your post searchable to all people, not just your followers or fans. Find out how hashtags are used to increase engagement on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Google+, Pinterest, Tumbler and Flickr in this article.
Read all about it in this post from moz.com: How Hashtags Work on Twitter, Instagram, Google Plus, Pinterest, Facebook, Tumblr, and Flickr.
What can you do?
Try to find a couple of hashtags relevant to your business and use them on a consistent basis in your social media posts to expand your reach.
