Are you using the Yoast SEO plugin on your website? When you’re creating a page or post in WordPress, the Yoast SEO Readability section helps you quickly evaluate your text for common readability concerns. Common readability concerns include sentence and paragraph length, passive voice, and transition words. This also includes the Flesch reading ease test.
Flesch Reading Ease Test
The Flesch reading ease test measures how difficult or easy something is to read. A higher score means your material is easier to read; lower numbers mean your content is more difficult to read. Yoast indicates that a score of 60 or above is ideal for SEO. The Flesch reading score used to appear in the Yoast Readability section, but is no longer there. Follow these steps to find the reading score of your page or post:
- Find the Yoast SEO section below your page or post
- Before you would select the Readability tab to view your Flesch reading score, now instead you want to click the SEO tab
- From there you’ll scroll to the bottom of the Insights section of the SEO tab
These tools can give you a good idea of how readable your content is. Readability doesn’t just matter for Google Search. It is also important for reaching your audience in a meaningful way and giving them the best experience possible.
