Do you want a YouTube video to play within your website? This is so easy! Just go to YouTube and find the video you want to embed, click the button below the YouTube video that says “share,” and copy the share address.
In WordPress, just paste the address on a separate line, do not make it a link. The video preview will appear in your editor and when you publish, the video will play from within your website.
If you want the video to appear in a sidebar, WordPress now includes a video widget. Just paste the link in the video widget and it will automatically embed.
Types of Embedded Content
In addition to YouTube videos, you can also embed videos from Vimeo, TED, Flickr, Hulu and others. Other types of content can also be embedded the same way:
- Music and podcasts from SoundCloud and Spotify
- Slide presentations from SlideShare
- Social media posts and images from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Reddit and Imgur
The WordPress Codex has the full list of supported embeds.
