Bob: Hi I’m Bob Clark
Donna: And I’m Donna Botti. We’re with Delos Inc and we make the web work for you.
It’s that pumpkin time of year, but along with ghosts and goblins it can be scary too. In today’s Tech News Tuesday episode we’re going to talk about why you shouldn’t be scared of video marketing.
Bob: Right, and the first thing you need to know is that it’s going to help your organization grow. Did you know there are 5 billion videos watched on YouTube every single day?
Donna: Yes. It’s one of the largest search engines too – second only to Google at number one. And all the major social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn are prioritizing video content over text and pictures right now.
Bob: The bottom line is that people prefer video over other types of content and it shows in the conversion rates – which are higher when a video on the page and in SEO as people spend a longer amount of time on pages with video.
Donna: Videos also make great stories and we’re wired to relate to storytelling. Just a couple of tips, make your videos easily digestible (which usually means keeping it short) and optimized for mobile viewing. And don’t forget to have a clear call to action.
It’s a great way to repurpose content, too as you can have the video on YouTube, on your website with a transcript, as a shareable piece of content on social media, and even use the audio file as a podcast. One piece of content, multiple uses.
Bob: Some of the ways to use videos are to share a customer testimonial, show how to use a product, do a product review or comparison, explain key features, or show a behind the scenes view of your organization.
Donna: Creating videos can seem scary and intimidating at first, but gets easier with practice and a plan. Instead of saying don’t be scared of video marketing, I think we should rephrase that: It’s OK to be scared of video marketing, but do it anyway! You’ll get better at it and you’ll love the results.
Bob: Happy Halloween everyone! You can find a link to the Self Employed article on gaining more traffic with video marketing and a transcript of today’s episode at DelosInc.com/105.
